What natural plant/herb is Viagra chemically extracted from?

How was the compound Sildenafil Citrate (Viagra) found and what was it extracted from?
Are Tadalafil Citrate (Cialis) and Vardenafil HCL (Levitra) extracted from the same plant source as Viagra is?

Chosen Answer:

It wasn’t necessarily extracted directly from a plant source. Scientists at pharmaceutical companies systematically study molecules by the millions. Some of which were taken from plant sources and some where not. Most of them are modifications from previously studied molecules. They might extract a substance from a plant, analyze its molecular composition, then find one molecule that shows promise and warrants further study. Then they might find that the molecule isn’t desirable for some reason, so they might slightly alter the molecule, then test the new molecule that was formed, and so on. They literally study and discard millions of molecules before finding the one that demonstrates a useful medical application. With computers this process is much faster than it used to be.
In the case of Viagra, sildenafil citrate was originally being developed to treat ischemic heart disease. During human studies, they found that sildenfil didn’t demonstrate the promise they had hoped for, but in gathering feedback from the patients on side effects, they stumbled across the “side effect” of a hard erection in patients that hadn’t had a “good erection” in years. They decided to study it further and found it was very effective for this purpose. They realized that erections are regulated by an enzyme in the body called phosphodiesterase. Variations of this enzyme are found throughout the body effecting various things, and are numbered for classification purposes. The phosphodiesterase in the penis is called “PDE5″. Other enzymes like PDE11 are found in skeletal muscles. In a nutshell, PDE5 prevents an erection by gobbling up nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is released during arousal to cause the erection, but impotent men have too high a threshold of PDE5 to allow it to happen. Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra all work by temporarily inhibiting PDE5, thus nitric oxide is released during arousal and is allowed to cause the erection. The differences between the drugs is due to the levels at which other PDE’s are inhibited. Viagra also inhibits PDE3 which is found in eyes, relating to color vision, which is why you can sometimes have a temporary bluish tint to your vision. And Cialis inhibits PDE11, which causes an increased incidence of sore muscles. The drugs also differ with regard to their onset of action, and half life.

I received a virus in e-mail, that sends out Viagra links to my friends from my address. How can I stop it?

Chosen Answer:

Mhm that isn’t good. This is probably not a virus though, this sounds more like a bot has gotten a hold of your password. Try changing your password and all problems should be solved.

How do you get prescribed Viagra from the doctors?

like do I make an appointment?
what if you don’t have a regular doctor?
what if you don’t have a family doctor?
can you go see a random doctor?

Chosen Answer:

you should have a regular doctor; gp or family practice.

If you don’t, you could use a convenient care facility.

If you call and make an appointment, or walk into a convenient care facility, just be upfront: tell them you would like to talk to a doctor about using viagra.

Does viagra show any effect on women as well?

Does viagra show any effect on women as well? Can any one suggest some medication for women suffering from libido or lack of sexual arousal? Please dont suggest foreplay or any counselling. Im looking for e medication similar to viagra which can show effect on women. Early response would be appreciated. Thanks.

Chosen Answer:

It will increase blood flow and she will likely lubricate more during sex. It will have no effect on her libido or her ability to orgasm.

You need to have your testosterone level check by your doctor. There are testosterone gels for women that can be applied to the skin 30 minutes before sex to increase arousal.

How do you get Viagra from your doctor?

I do not suffer from erectile dysfunction, but I still want to try Viagra. How do I approach a doctor to ask for it without him denying me a dosage?

Also i do not want to ask my primary care physician. Can I just go to any physician and just ask them to fill me out a prescription?
I mean isnt there something you can tell him that will convince him … maybe a LIE?

Chosen Answer:

You can’t get it without a prescription. And because Viagra is dangerous to use if the man does not have erectile dysfunction, you will be denied a prescription. So just forget about it.
